Have you seen “14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible” on Netflix yet?

If you haven’t, you are truly missing out on one of the most inspiring true life stories I have ever seen. For the record, I’ve probably seen most mountaineering and competitive sports documentaries on Netflix. This one stands out in the most unique way because it is not like your typical Everest story — it is not just about one mountain, one person or a group of people.

It is an international story of what human kindness, positivity, humbleness, determination and teamwork can achieve.

What is 14 Peaks really about?

The documentary follows a 38-year-old mountain climber and Ex-Navy Seal from Nepal named Nirmal Purja.

Nirmal, or “Nims” as everyone calls him, has this ever-burning and seemingly impossible desire to summit the world’s highest 14 peaks (each peak is over 8000-meters) in 6 months. To understand how difficult this will be, you should know this — the last world record on summiting all 14 mountains took 7 years.

Mind you, only one in three climbers ever make it to the summit. They can be either lost, frozen to death or run out of oxygen at these high altitudes.
